A Floral Tribute
Superbloom
Nodding to our ambitious plan to protect, restore and regenerate nature – led by our pledge to become climate positive by 2040 – Burberry is proud to be the lead sponsor of Superbloom at the Tower of London, an immersive floral installation celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. Accompanying the installation, the Burberry Floating Meadow and the Burberry Art Wall aim to educate and inspire.
The Burberry Floating Meadow
Docked close to the Tower of London, an extension of the Jubilee celebrations is found in a floating meadow. Surrounding a winding pathway, over 5,000 herbaceous plants, grass species and wildflowers create a mini ecosystem that celebrates the local flora, fauna and pollinators that are crucial to nurturing our natural habitats.
A zero-waste installation, the structure was built using over 1.4 tonnes of recycled plastic – the equivalent of 3.3 million single-use straws – recovered from waterways around the UK, while all the plants used will be replanted to live on in local community projects.
Every aspect of the installation has been carefully monitored to evaluate and reduce its impact, including the tugboat used to move the meadow into position. The craft is powered by HVO fuel – a low-emission, low-carbon alternative to regular diesel that is fossil-free – produced using renewable waste materials.
The plants selected highlight the role that natural grasslands and marshes can play in storing carbon and the flowering species that provide food, nectar and shelter to pollinators and common riverside wildlife.
A Landscape of Imagination by Jon Emmony
The Burberry Art Wall
An embodiment of Burberry’s belief that creativity opens spaces, the Burberry Art Wall encourages a new generation of creatives to explore the future of our world with limitless imagination.
Envisaging our future world – rich in biodiversity and shepherded by nature – digital artist Jon Emmony’s utopian vision is inspired by the power of the Superbloom phenomenon and the ecosystem of animals and pollinators of British woodlands
To mark this unique occasion, we’ve teamed up with children in the UK to celebrate as a community.
